The newest entrant in the TVS Apache family is the RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0. Not only does the bike get a new black and red livery; it is also equipped with a slipper clutch. The bike is available in three variants- Carb, FI and ABS. Pricing for the bike starts at Rs 95,185 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the carbureted variant. Around the same price, the Indian market offers 13 motorcycles and scooters you could opt from. To begin with, there is the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V; the bike that the Race Edition is based on. It is powered by the same 197cc single-cylinder engine that produces 20.7bhp and 18.1Nm of torque. However, it misses out on the slipper clutch that the Race Edition offers. The bike will cost you Rs 93,280. Also on offer from the Apache range is the RTR 180 priced at Rs 91, 857. It uses a 177cc single-cylinder mill that produces 17.3bhp and 15.5Nm of torque.
In a similar streetfighter bodystyle is the Bajaj Pulsar NS200. It is powered by the retuned version of the 199cc single cylinder from the KTM 200 Duke. This units produces 23.2bhp and 18.3Nm of torque. The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is priced at Rs 97,754. Bajaj also offers the Pulsar 220F. It gets a semi-fairing with a distinctive looking projector headlamp. The bike is powered by a 220cc single-cylinder engine that puts out 21bhp and 19Nm torque. The bike is priced at 93,722.
Yamaha offers the Fazer Fi V2.0 at Rs 88,143. The bike gets a semi-fairing and is based on the streetfighter FZ. It is powered by a 149cc single-cylinder engine that produces 13bhp and 12.8Nm of torque. This unit gets an electronic fuel-injection system.
You could also look at the Suzuki Gixxer SF FI. The bike is a fully-faired motorcycle and also gets an electronic fuel-injection system. Powering the bike is a 155cc single-cylinder motor that produces 14.6bhp and 14Nm of torque. It is also available in a carbureted version which is powered by the same engine. While the standard bike retails at Rs 87,737, the FI version costs Rs 94,205.
The 155 single-cylinder engine used in the Gixxers also finds a place in the Suzuki Intruder. The bike is a cruiser with design cues borrowed by its bigger sibling, the Intruder M1800R. It is priced at Rs 99,925.
There also is the Bajaj Avenger 220 Street and 220 Cruise on offer. The Avenger 220 Street offers a modern, city-cruiser look thanks to the blacked-out components and low-handlebar. The Avenger 220 Cruise on the other hand, sports oodles of chrome, a sweptback handlebar and a tall windscreen to boost its touring capabilities. Both bikes are powered by a 220cc single-cylinder engine that produces 19bhp and 17.5Nm of torque. The Avenger 220 Street and 220 Cruise retail at Rs 93,312.
The Indian market also offers scooters in this price bracket. Vespa offers four scooters with its iconic scooter design language from its line-up. There is the SXL 125 which sports a 125cc engine that delivers 9.9bhp and 10.6Nm of torque. It retails at Rs 87,175. The scooter is also offered in a 150cc variant called the SXL150. It is powered by a 150cc engine that produces 11.4bhp and 11.5Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 93,271.
You could also opt for the VXL150 that is powered by the same engine as the SXL150. While the SXL series get the rectangular headlamp, the VXL gets a round headlamp like the earlier Vespas. The scooter is priced at Rs 89,435. To add more exclusivity, Vespa added a new colour scheme, seat and a windscreen and created the Elegante 150. It comes with a Rs 98,000 price tag.
