TVS Motors seems to have spruced up the testing of their upcoming 200cc Apache motorcycle. A test mule was spied again this month, not long after some images surfaced on the web.
The fresh batch of images of the camouflaged Apache RTR 200 give out more details of what seems to a production-ready bike. Upfront, a sleek headlamp, tall handlebars with matte black finish, slim indicators and aluminium brake and clutch levers can be seen. The mirrors are carried over from the current range of Apache motorcycles. Coming to the sides, one can notice the new design pattern for the black alloy wheels shod with TVS tubeless tyres. The bike gets an upside down telescopic suspension in the front, monoshock at the rear and petal disc brakes. Most noteworthy is the well-sculpted tank that boasts of an asymmetrical shape, all thanks to the off-set placement of the fuel-lid.
The new Apache features split seats, where the rear seat is raised as compared to the one on the current Apache. This upcoming motorcycle is expected to offer an aggressive yet comfortable riding stance. The aluminium foot-pegs get a rubber padding for that extra grip. The underbelly pan is new and the exhaust seems to be a prototype without heat plates.
The new images also clearly display the new instrument cluster of the Apache RTR 200. The fully digital console displays the engine rpm, gear engaged, time, service reminder, speed, fuel level, odometer and trip meter; all set in a white dash. We can also expect a lap-timer and top-speed recorder like what we have seen in the current Apache motorcycles. So, the overall styling is new and the design borrows traits from the Draken-X21 concept showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and even the recently unveiled BMW G310R.
The new Apache is expected to be powered by a 200cc single-cylinder mill. This unit should have a power output of about 25bhp to go up fiercely against the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS. It will build up a lot of excitement in the naked segment of motorcycles in India if priced within one lakh rupees. The new Apache RTR 200 is a much-awaited product and will also become the new flagship motorcycle for TVS Motors.
