TVS has announced that the production of its latest offering, the Apache RTR 310 has commenced in India. Also, the deliveries and test rides of the motorcycle will begin soon. It was launched in India in the first week of September with prices starting from Rs. 2.43 lakh (ex-showroom). One can also opt for Dynamic and Dynamic Pro kits by paying an additional sum of Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 22,000, respectively. These kits bring along extra goodies like adjustability for suspension and climate control seats.
The RTR 310 is essentially the naked version of the fully-faired Apache RR310 but with a lot more changes than just a different clothing. It boasts an aggressive and athletic streetfighter styling with sharp cuts and contours. Complementing its radical design are a plethora of advanced features like a TFT dash, five riding modes, cornering ABS, wheelie control, traction control, cruise control, slope-dependent control, glide-through function, tyre pressure monitoring system, and a bi-directional quick shifter in the more expensive variant.
Powering the bike is the same 312cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that does duty on the RR 310. However, the RTR 310 produces 35.08bhp and 28.7Nm which are marginally higher than its fully-faired sibling. This unit comes mated to a six-speed gearbox that is accompanied by an assist and slipper clutch. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are shod with grippy Michelin Road 5 tyres. Suspension duties are handled by KYB upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock while anchors are dropped by a single disc brake at both ends.
The TVS Apache RTR 310 competes against the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R, and Keeway K300 N.
