- TVS working on hybrid two-wheelers
- Will be seen in future scooters, motorcycles
It’s no secret that TVS has set benchmarks in the Indian two-wheeler industry when it comes to new technologies and features. It plans to do the same in the world of hybrid technologies.
The Hosur-based manufacturer is investing heavily in hybrid technologies. According to our sources, TVS is working on a variety of two-wheelers that will be powered by petrol engines mated to integrated hybrid motors. In fact, the company had showcased the Zeppelin concept at the 2018 Auto Expo which is powered by a 220cc single-cylinder engine coupled to an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The bike also gets a 1200W regenerative assist motor with 48V Li-ION battery that further adds to the performance.
The hybrid tech can be seen on both scooters and motorcycles. In the first phase, scooters above 110cc are likely to be seen with this tech. For motorcycles, it will be 200cc and above. The company believes that using both petrol and hybrid motors, it will be able to achieve best performance and fuel efficiency in the respective segments, along with reduction in emission.
