TVS has launched its first electric two-wheeler, the iQube, in India. The scooter has been priced at Rs 1.15 lakhs (on road) and is currently available only in Bangalore. With various manufacturers entering into the electric space now, we tell you what TVS has in store with the iQube, through this image gallery.
Starting with the design, the iQube features a conventional scooter-like design with curvy front apron and handlebar cowl along with boxy underseat panels.
The headlamp is an LED unit, housed in a sleek horizontal strip running across the front apron. The dual tone treatment on the front section adds a bit of flavor to the styling.
The handlebar cowl of the iQube integrates a bright, U-shaped LED DRL. Accompanying this is a pair of body-coloured, square-shaped rear view mirrors.
Similar to the headlamp, the tail lamp of the e-scooter is also a narrow, LED unit flanked by LED turn indicators housed in the same cluster.
TVS has equipped it with a full-colour TFT instrument cluster which features the brand’s SmartXonnect technology for smartphone integration. The display provides a plethora of information through a mobile application named iQube.
The rubber-finished handlebar grips are joined by chrome-finished bar end weights while the tactile plastic switches evoke a sense of quality.
It gets a few aesthetics elements, such as a glowing ‘Electric’ badge on the drivetrain cover, which lend it a futuristic appeal.
The iQube is propelled by a hub-mounted, BLDC electric motor with a peak output of 4.4kW which helps it in achieving a top speed of 78kmph.
It rides on 12-inch wheels suspended by telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers while braking is handled by a disc brake up front and a drum brake at the rear.
Bookings for the TVS iQube have commenced at Rs 5,000 through its official website and at select dealerships in Bangalore. It competes against the Ather 450 and the new Bajaj Chetak electric.
