- TVS iQube electric prices reduced
- Is more affordable by Rs 11,250
- Available only in Bengaluru and Delhi for now
The TVS iQube electric scooter is now more affordable by Rs 11,250. It is available only in two cities yet - Delhi and Bengaluru where its on-road price has come down to Rs 1,00,777 and Rs 1,10,506, respectively.
This is the result of the revisions in the FAMI II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India) subsidy for electric vehicles that has been increased by 50 per cent. While it was previously set at Rs 10,000 per kWh, the recent changes have hiked it up to Rs 15,000 per kWh. There are certain criteria that an electric two-wheeler needs to meet for being eligible for the subsidy. To read about the revised FAME II scheme in detail, click here.
Before TVS, Ather Energy also made an official announcement of its 450X and 450 Plus e-scooters becoming more affordable by as much as Rs 14,500. We’ll soon witness more products getting significantly cheaper that fit in the FAME II criteria. Joining the list will be the Bajaj Chetak electric, Okinawa Praise Pro and the Revolt electric bikes.
Although TVS has launched the iQube only in two cities till now, it plans to expand its availability to 20 more cities in the ongoing financial year. The iQube had managed to fairly impress us during its first ride review. It is propelled by a 4.4kW hub-mounted motor which produces 140Nm of torque and fetches energy from a 2.25kWh battery pack. It is capable of attaining a top speed of around 78kmph while the claimed battery range is 75kms.
