- TVS iQube electric scooter enters Pune
- Priced at Rs 1.11 lakh (on-road)
- To be launched in more cities soon
TVS Motor Company has launched its electric scooter, the iQube, in Pune. It will be sold at Rs 1,10,898 (on-road) in the city after the recent price cut due to the revised FAME II scheme and Maharashtra state subsidy. Until now, the iQube was available only in Delhi and Bengaluru. However, TVS had announced in May 2021 that it’s working on launching the e-scooter in 20 more cities across India.
The iQube is quite an impressive electric scooter that is comparable to petrol-powered 125cc scooters, especially in terms of performance. Propelled by a 4.4kW electric motor which makes 140Nm of torque, it can touch a top speed of 78kmph. This motor draws power from a 2.25kWh battery pack that is claimed to deliver a range of 75km. This battery can be topped up by plugging it into a 5A socket at home.
Unlike many other overly radical-looking electric scooters, the iQube’s design is quite easy on the eyes with sleek and curvy body panels. It is available in a single white colour option. In contrast to its conventional design, the features are pretty modern. There’s a large TFT screen that can be connected to the rider’s smartphone via Bluetooth. Through the TVS iQube app, one can get access to a host of information about the scooter. It also gets full-LED lighting, Q-Park assist, two riding modes, and regenerative braking.
The high price is one of the main issues with electric vehicles. But with the government encouraging its adaption by increasing the subsidy, the sales of EVs are likely to increase. Resultantly, we’ll witness an increasing number of electric two-wheeler brands expanding their reach to more cities, similar to TVS.
