Last year TVS launched the iQube in three variants: base, S, and ST. And it's one of the few electric offerings from an OEM two-wheeler maker. We spent a few days riding it around the city, tested its range, and got a hold of how it rides. Here’s our review of the iQube S through these detailed images.
On the design front, the TVS iQube S looks like a conventional scooter and that should work in its favor. The silhouette resembles that of the TVS Jupiter with a dash of modern lines. Even the paint quality is decent and the switchgear offers good tactility.
The overall build quality left us with mixed opinions since the visor fitment was odd, panel gaps around the front apron’s uneven, and the plastic cover below the seat needs better finishing.
TVS has powered the iQube S with a hub-mounted motor that dishes out 5.9bhp and 33Nm. It’s mated to a 3.4kWh lithium-ion battery that TVS claims to offer 105km range in the Eco mode. With its motor setup, the iQube’s whine is quite silent.
It gets two modes - eco and power. And the iQube feels engaging to ride in both modes. However, you’ll find the urge to switch to Power mode post the 40kmph mark. During our test, the TVS e-scooter clocked a speedometer indicating 84kmph of top speed. The transition between the two modes is seamless, and you don’t need to roll off the throttle either.
TVS has also equipped the iQube with regenerative braking. It comes into action as soon as you shut the throttle and the scooter slows down gradually. The braking setup on the iQube S is potent and offers a good bite and progression. The front disc slows down the scooter quickly and is reliable too.
On the handling front, the iQube S feels stable and is easy to flick from side to side. It stays planted on long bends without losing a beat. But when compared to the Ather 450X, the TVS scooter feels a tad less composed.
You get a bevy of features like LED illumination, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, reverse park assist, a seven-inch instrument console, and a joystick to toggle through the menu as well. The iQube S benefits from a 17-litre underseat storage.
