TVS iQube ST vs Ather 450X: Competition Check

TVS recently launched the iQube in three variants: Standard, S, and ST. Of the trio, the ST is the top-of-the-line model and offers a bevy of features that makes it a suitable rival to the Ather 450X. Let’s compare the two electric scooters and see what they offer. 

Design

Ather 450X Right Front Three Quarter

The iQube ST gets pretty much the same design as the standard model. It’s equipped with a horizontal LED strip at the front and also gets a small-smoked visor on the top. The iQube boasts a fairly minimal and clean bodywork too. On the other hand, the Ather 450X gets a very sporty design. It’s quite youthful and the sharp body panels are a testament to it. You get an LED headlight at the front with LED indicators mounted on the handlebar cowl. 

Features

TVS iQube TFT / Instrument Cluster

TVS has amped up the features list for the iQube ST. It gets smartphone connectivity, remote vehicle immobilization, 7-inch touchscreen, play/pause music, social media notifications, OTA updates, geo-fencing, anti-theft, live location tracking, navigation and more. The Ather 450X features a 7-inch touchscreen that lets you access all the tech. From navigation to Bluetooth connectivity as well as the documents, reverse mode, brightness adjustment, and errors, all the features are accessible from the screen. 

Battery and Motor

Ather 450X Right Rear Three Quarter

The TVS iQube ST packs a 4.4kW BLDC hub-mounted motor. It’s mated to a 4.56kWh lithium-ion battery with a maximum range of 145km in the Eco mode. The top speed is limited to 82kmph. The Ather 450X gets a 6kW PMS motor and a 2.9kWh lithium-ion battery. The 450X’s top speed is capped at around 95kmph in the warp mode. You get a maximum range of 88km in the eco mode. 

Underpinnings

TVS iQube Left Front Three Quarter

TVS has suspended the iQube ST on telescopic front forks and adjustable rear shock. It rides on 12-inch alloys wrapped in 90/90 tyres. You get a 220mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum unit for the braking hardware. Ather has equipped the 450X with telescopic front forks and monoshock at the rear. It’s braking setup comprises a 200mm front and a 190mm rear disc mounted on 90/90-12 wheel setup. 

Price

TVS is yet to reveal the asking price for the iQube ST but the bookings are open for a token amount of Rs 999. For reference, the standard model costs Rs 98,564 (on-road Delhi) and the S trim retails at Rs 1,08,690 (on-road Delhi). So, you can expect a fair premium on the ST as well. On the other hand, the Ather 450X will cost you Rs 1,38,006 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
