After having ridden the TVS Jupiter 125 on the racetrack a few months ago, we finally got the chance to test it out in the real world. You can read all about it in the expert review section or watch the full review on our YouTube channel. Until then, here’s a detailed image gallery of the Jupiter 125 from our review.
The Jupiter 125 isn’t TVS’s first 125cc scooter. Only, it is its first family-oriented one. Unlike the Ntorq 125 that focuses purely on performance, the Jupiter 125 is all about practicality and comfort.
It sports a styling similar to the Jupiter 110 but with tweaks to set it apart. The quality of components is good although we thought the fitments could be better.
As for comfort, the TVS Jupiter 125 comes with a large seat that should accommodate two large-sized individuals easily. Moreover, the seat is well cushioned and feels so even after a few hours of riding.
Adding to the level of comfort, TVS is offering a three-step adjustable rear suspension that can be tweaked for preload using, your thumb. Nonetheless, the Jupiter offers decent ride quality over minor undulation and bumps.
Now, for convenience, the TVS Jupiter 125 has some really useful feature, There is an external fuel cap on the front apron- a first in its class. This removes the need to get off the scooter or even turn around to open the lid. You also get a cubby hole up front. But, the highlight is the underseat storage- a whole 33-litres of it, making it the largest in any scooter in India. The scooter also has a LCD instrument cluster, although it does not get Bluetooth connectivity.
The TVS Jupiter 125 is powered by a 125cc, air-cooled engine that produces 8bhp and 10.5Nm of peak torque. These numbers may not be segment-leading, but in the real world, the scooter feels lively and useable. The motor is also frugal, offering upto 50kmpl.
As for the pricing, the base model of the Jupiter 125 is pegged at Rs 74,425 (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is identical to the corresponding variant of the Suzuki Access 125 and Rs 1,000 more than the Honda Activa 125.
