TVS Motor Company’s one of the highest selling products, the Jupiter, is now compliant with BS6 emission norms. With a frugal engine, ample storage area and a decent number of features, the Jupiter is one of the ideal family scooters you can buy. However, what also makes it an interesting product is the availability of 13 colour options, distributed across three variants.
The TVS Jupiter BS6 comes in standard, ZX and Classic variants. There are eight colour options for the standard model including Matte Blue, Mystic Gold, Titanium Grey, Matte Silver, Midnight Black, Volcano Red, Pristine White and Walnut Brown. As for the ZX trim, it can be had in one of the two dedicated paint schemes – Starlight Blue and Royal Wine. It also gets a dual tone seat and beige coloured panels around the footboard which set it apart from the standard variant.
The Classic edition is offered in three special paint schemes – Autumn Brown, Sunlit Ivory and Indiblue. TVS has also equipped this variant with a few cosmetic add-ons such as a tall visor, round chrome-finished mirrors, chrome bar ends, rear grab rail with cushion, contrast coloured interior panels and a dual tone ribbed pattern seat.
All three variants of the TVS Jupiter BS6 are mechanically the same. Powering the scooter is a 109.7cc, air-cooled engine which makes 7.3bhp and 8.4Nm and comes mated to a CVT gearbox. It rides on 12-inch wheels with telescopic forks up front and a rear monoshock. Braking is handled by drum brakes at both ends.
TVS has priced the standard model of the Jupiter BS6 at Rs 62,062 while the ZX and Classic trims cost Rs 64,062 and Rs 68,562, respectively (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). In terms of competition, it goes up against the Honda Activa 6G and the Hero Maestro Edge.
