TVS recently launched the BS6-compliant Jupiter Classic in India. The scooter not only gets BS6-compliance but also comes with a host of other updates. We tell you the major differences between the BS6 and BS4 models.
Pricing
TVS has pegged the BS6 Jupiter Classic at Rs 67,911 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Now, as compared to the BS4 variant, it costs a premium of around Rs 7,921 but it also comes with additional features to justify the extra price.
Only available in one variant
The BS6 Jupiter Classic is available only in a drum brake variant. Unlike the earlier Jupiter Classic which used a disc brake upfront, the BS6 version uses drum brakes on both ends with the brand’s SBT (Sync Braking Technology) as standard. TVS will introduce the BS6 versions of the Jupiter Base, ZX and Grande in the coming months.
Additional features
The Jupiter Classic was already available with a cushioned pillion backrest, chrome mirrors and grabrail. However, the BS6 version gets a USB charging port housed in the scooter’s front apron. It also comes with a redesigned, dual-tone seat and a tinted windscreen.
BS6-compliant engine The scooter continues with the 109.7cc engine which now gets TVS’s ‘Ecothrust Fi’ technology. The company claims that it improves overall performance, smoothness and fuel efficiency.
Three new colour options The BS6 TVS Jupiter Classic is available in three colour options which include- Sunlit Ivory, Autumn Brown and Indiblue.
