TVS Motor Company has launched a new sheet metal wheel variant of its 110cc scooter, the Jupiter, in India. It has been priced at Rs 63,497 which makes it the most affordable trim of the Jupiter. As for the rest of the variants which were already on sale, all of them have witnessed a price hike ranging between Rs 1,645-2,770, depending on the variant. The TVS Jupiter is a family scooter meant to be a good daily driver. In the Indian market, it mainly competes against the Honda Activa 6G and the Hero Maestro Edge 110. Notably, the Jupiter boasts a few elements which make it more desirable than its rivals such as LED headlamp in all variants, a mobile charging provision, a large 21 litres under seat storage provision and 12-inch wheels at both ends.
Powering the Jupiter is a 1097cc, air-cooled engine which comes mated to a CVT transmission system and churns out 7.3bhp at 7,000rpm and 8.4Nm at 5,500rpm. Weighing at around 109kgs, it incorporates a fuel tank of 6 litres with a lid accessible externally for an added convenience. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear while the braking setup comprises drums at both ends with a front disc available as an option.
