TVS Motors has launched a new variant of the Apache RTR 180, the Matte Black Edition. First showcased at the 2014 India Bike Week, the company has finally launched the bike for the Indian market and has also been showing the TV commercial.
Except the new matte black colour; nothing has changed on the bike. It continues to be powered by a 177cc single-cylinder engine that churns out 17.03bhp at 8500rpm and a maximum torque of 15.5Nm at 6500rpm. This engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox with one down and four up gearshift patterns.
The introduction of this new variant is nothing but to gain more sales and market share. Its closest competitor Yamaha is in the process of launching the updated FZ, which is expected to be more than a regular facelift. The Hosur-based company has felt the heat from its competitor and is making sure it is prepared to take on the premium commuter segment.
The company hasn’t given the price of the Apache RTR 180 Matte Black Edition on their website, but we can expect it to be marginally above the regular model.
