TVS showcased its new and improved 2014 Wego at this year’s Auto Expo in February. Armed with new updates and more features, the scooter is now on sale in India with a starting price of around Rs 48,500 (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the drum brake equipped variant. The more expensive disc brake equipped variant is priced at Rs 49,500.
TVS has made extensive updates to the Wego’s power-plant. The 2014 model, as a result, gets an upgraded 110cc, single cylinder engine with EcoThrust technology. Interestingly, TVS uses this very engine to power the Jupiter. Featuring a remapped ignition unit and a more durable piston, the 110cc unit makes 8bhp of power and 8Nm of torque. TVS claims a fuel efficiency of 62 kilometers to the litre for the 2014 Wego.
Braking duties are courtesy the 130mm drum units on the standard variant. The disc-equipped variant, on the other hand, gets a 220mm disc at the front. Visually, the 2014 model differentiates itself from the outgoing model with the help of new graphics, black alloy wheels and a new dual tone colour shade.
The 2014 TVS Wego competes with other 110cc scooters like the Honda Activa-i, Yamaha Ray and the recently introduced Suzuki Let’s.
