- New iQube variant ready for launch
- Will get fewer features, a smaller battery pack
- The ST variant is yet to be launched
TVS is looking to expand its electric scooter portfolio in a few weeks. The company is planning to launch an entry-level variant of its famous iQube scooter.
According to dealer sources, the Hosur-based company will launch a new iQube variant which will have fewer features and also a smaller battery pack. Through this route, the company wants to bring down the pricing of the iQube and attract more Indian consumers. Over the last few months, a lot of EV brands have introduced lower-priced EV variants as the FAME 2 subsidies have been abolished and that has resulted in EVs becoming quite expensive. To counter the sentiment of Indian consumers, a lot of OEMs introduced a lower priced product to keep the sales momentum.
Currently, TVS sells iQube in two variants – standard and S. The S gets a fancier screen and more features than the standard variant and as a result gets a higher asking price. There’s also an ST variant which was supposed to go on sale but hasn’t yet. This variant was supposed to cater to consumers who want more features and also better performance and riding range. But it looks like, in the era of no subsidies, the iQube ST variant doesn’t make sense anymore.
The TVS iQube is one excellent electric scooter and during our long-term test with it, it was clear that this EV offers a lot of value for its money. Plus, its overall comfort level is possibly the best in the country. With this new cheaper variant, TVS is bound to make a bigger difference and help them stay in the top three sales standings for years to come.
