Driven by the demand for its scooters in the Indian market, TVS Motor Company has registered a growth of 32 per cent in the month of July 2014. Strong sales have helped the Chennai-based manufacturer hold on to the number three spot in the Indian two-wheeler market which it had reclaimed last month.
TVS sold 2,03,092 vehicles in the domestic market the last month, which includes 7,005 units of three-wheeler vehicles. Scooters made up more than 30 per cent of the total two-wheelers sales numbers growing by 64 per cent in the last month as compared to July 2013, while motorcycles sales grew by 33 per cent. The company's total exports grew by 41 per cent with sales jumping from 26,145 units in the month of July 2013 to 36,986 units in July 2014.
TVS’s line-up comprises of a wide range of motorcycles, scooters as well as a moped which help it cater to a wider audience. The scooters in its lineup, Scooty Pep+, Scooty Streak, Jupiter and Wego collectively sold more than one lakh units in the first quarter of this year, which significantly boosted the company’s sales numbers.
Last month, numbers released by the company revealed that the sales of TVS Motor Company in the June as well as for the April-June quarter had exceeded those of Bajaj Auto. These numbers helped TVS Motor climb to the number three spot in the Indian two-wheeler market, behind Hero MotoCorp and Honda.
