TVS Motors has registered a 0.4 per cent increase in sales in January 2017. While the domestic sales in the last month were in negative, the exports registered a marginal increase helping the company maintain flat growth curve.
TVS' overall two-wheeler sales rose from 2.01 lakh units in January 2016 to 2.02 lakh units in the last month. Of these, 1.72 lakh units were sold in the domestic market, while 30,108 units were shipped to its global markets. The company’s scooter sales grew by 12 per cent, though the demand for motorcycles dropped by 27 per cent.
TVS seems to be recovering from the setback caused by demonetisation. While December 2016 witnessed sales slide by 8.7 per cent, the company has now recouped to break even. We can expect sales to pick up over the next few weeks. To counter the slump, TVS has introduced offers and finance schemes along with dealer-level offers like free accessories to attract more customers.
