TVS Motors has been given the green signal by the Karnataka state government for the expansion of its facility in Mysore. This plan will see the company pump in Rs 310 crore for the expansion of the facility, offering employment to over 200 people.
While details about the expansion plans are still scant, we expect a part of this investment to be directed towards upgrading the facility to manufacture the new BMW G310R. Engineered at the German manufacturer’s development facility in Munich, the G310 will utilise TVS’ expertise in cost-effective manufacturing. The bike will be exclusively made at TVS’ new production line for the Indian as well as other global markets, and will also be available with a TVS badge in the Indian market. The rest of the investment is expected to be concentrated on increasing the plant’s overall capacity.
Apart from green lighting TVS Motors’ project, the Karnataka state government also cleared 41 more projects, attracting a total investment of Rs 3,028 crore. We expect TVS to release details about its expansion plans soon.
