A report in MoneyControl states that TVS Motor issued a circular to its dealers in the last week of April which mentions the company’s plans to convert unsold BS-III vehicles to BS-IV.
This low-cost upgrade includes retro-fitting the BS-III (Bharat stage-three) engines to meet the standards of BS-IV. TVS Motor will not charge its dealers for this conversion. However, the company will charge a nominal processing fee of Rs 2,000 per vehicle.
The circular noted that “Despite best efforts, some of the dealers had reported that there were a few BS III vehicles left over with them. Based on the [old] BS III stock details shared by you (the dealer), we will be taking back all the BS III vehicles which are produced on or after April 2016. Once these vehicles are converted to BS IV, the same vehicles that are taken back will be supplied to your dealership.” The company also said that they have plans to export a majority of the BS-III products recalled from the dealers.
