TVS has finally patented the design of its upcoming motorcycle, the Apache RR 310S. Based on the BMW G310R, the Apache RR 310GS is expected to make its presence felt in the next few months.
The overall design of the patented bike resembles the Akula concept that was showcased at the 2015 Auto Expo. The styling is aggressive, has the look of a big bike and it also has a lot of creases to make the bike look sharper. The fascia has drawn some inspiration from the Kawasaki Ninja 300. The side panels of the fairing sport a clean design, but the production version is likely to be dipped in racing decals. The tail section too, with its split seats, looks quite nice.
The Apache RR 310S will be powered by the same 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that powers the BMW G310R. However, the engine might be re-tuned to deliver more power at the top-end. This motor will be mated to a six-speed gearbox with one-down five-up pattern.
Once launched, the TVS Apache RR 310S will rival the KTM RC390, which has a major fan following in India, thanks to its performance and pricing. There’s also the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Benelli 302R, however, due to the additional cylinder, both are priced above Rs 3 lakhs. The Yamaha YZF-R3 also is priced above Rs 3 lakh, however, the price is expected to increase when the BS-IV version is launched.
