TVS Racing has signed on their first woman rider, Shreya Sunder Iyer, to race for their team. She will be part of the TVS Racing team in Indian National Rally championship this year. With this association, Shreya also becomes the first woman rider to be a part of any racing team in India.
Shreya, 24, began riding at the age of 17 and became the first Indian woman rider to successfully complete a ride across the sand dunes in Dubai. Shreya has also ridden extensively across India including the isolated Suru valley in the Himalayas and also completed a rigorous Southern India biking expedition of 2,000 kilometres in just six days. She has a dream of building a career in motor racing.
The newly inducted member of the TVS Racing team said, “I am proud to be a part of the TVS Racing team. TVS Racing is by far the best Indian racing team with the best motorbikes and trainers. This association will help me work with the best in class machines, racers and technology. I also hope to encourage young bikers especially women to follow their passion for racing and live their dreams.”
Arvind Pangaonkar, Head of Team TVS Racing said, “We are happy to sign Shreya for the TVS Racing team and believe that her participation will encourage women to consider racing as a career. TVS Racing is strongly committed to promote two wheeler racing in India and generate interest and improve support for the sport in India.
