The TVS Radeon is the brand’s latest contender in the executive commuter bike segment. Although it is a 110cc bike, the Radeon has been priced on par with other 100cc bikes, making it a good value-for-money proposition. However, with a price tag of Rs 48,400, the Radeon shares the market space with twelve commuter bikes, ten scooters and even an electric scooter.
We start with the most affordable motorcycle in the list – the Hero HF Deluxe Eco. It is priced at Rs 45,134, and is powered by a 97cc single-cylinder engine delivering 7.7bhp and 8Nm of torque. If you want the i3S variant, that will set you back by Rs 48,150. The Splendor Plus also uses the same engine, but is a little more expensive at Rs 45,753. The i3S variant will cost a premium of Rs 52,350. Bajaj’s equivalent in the 100cc segment is the Platina, which retails at Rs 47,789. It is powered by a 102cc single-cylinder engine delivering 8.1bhp and 8.6Nm of torque. From Japan, you have the Yamaha Saluto RX at Rs 48,021. Like the Radeon, it is powered by a 110cc engine, although the output is lower at 7bhp and 8.5Nm of torque.
The Radeon is based on the Star City Plus’ platform, a motorcycle which retails at Rs 48,116. For a little more you can have the Victor, a premium commuter which retails at Rs 52,983. All three bikes gets a 109cc engine, although the outputs is different. The Star City Plus and the Radeon deliver 8.3bhpand 8.7Nm of torque, while the Victor is significantly more powerful at 9.5bhp and 9.4Nm of torque.
The Mahindra Centuro gets a 106cc engine delivering 8.4bhp and 8.5Nm of torque. It retails at Rs 50,285. Honda has two 110cc commuter bikes in this price range, both powered by a 109cc engine churning out 8.3bhp and 9.1Nm of torque. The barebones CD Dream 110 is priced at Rs 50,341, while the Dream Neo, being slightly premium, commands a price tag of Rs 52,558. Bajaj also has a 115cc commuter bike in its line-up, the Discover 110. It costs Rs 52,058, and boasts of an output of 8.6bhp and 9.8Nm of torque. All the motorcycles in the list get a four-speed transmission.
If you want the convenience of an automatic transmission, there are eleven options to choose from. The Cliq is the most affordable Honda you can buy in India, at Rs 45,579, followed by the Navi at Rs 46,398. While both of these are quite quirky, you can also buy two other conventional scooters from Honda in this budget. The Activa-i is targeted at women, and is priced at Rs 51,633. If you want something trendy, you can go for the Dio for Rs 51,915. All four of these are powered by the same 109cc engine, delivering 8bhp and 8.9Nm of torque.
There are three scooters from Hero MotoCorp’s stables. The Duet and the Maestro Edge are modern scooters, priced at Rs 47,750 and Rs 50,675 respectively. Both of them get an 110cc engine delivering 8.3bhp and 8.3Nm of torque. The Pleasure is targeted at women, and is priced Rs 48,775. It gets a 102cc engine delivering 6.9bhp and 8.1Nm of torque. The Suzuki Let’s is priced at Rs 50,701. It gets a 112cc engine, delivering 8.5bhp and 9Nm of torque.
TVS itself has two scooters, the Scooty Zest priced at Rs 51,096 and the Wego at Rs 52,016. Both get 110cc engine, albeit with different states of tune. The Zest churns out 7.9bhp and 8.7Nm of torque, while the Wego delivers 8bhp and 8Nm of torque. If you are open to electric vehicles, the Hero Electric Photon can be yours for Rs 46,151. It gets a top speed of 45kmph, and can cover 80 kilometres on a full charge.
