TVS re-entered the 125cc two-wheeler market in India with the Raider 125. It’s a commuter offering with a dash of sportiness with the latter being quite evident in its performance. Moreover, TVS also managed to set the asking price quite aggressively at Rs 77,500 (ex-showroom Delhi). With that being said, there are quite a few other two-wheelers that you can buy for a similar price. Here’s the list.
Honda Shine
Throughout its years in India, Honda has managed to offer quite some popular names in the motorcycle market. Of its wide portfolio, the Honda Shine has become a household name when talking about commuter motorcycles. It’s priced at Rs 74,943 (ex-showroom Delhi) and packs a 124cc BS6 engine developing 10.59bhp and 11 Nm. The motor is quite frugal and offers an impressive mileage of 55kmpl. Not to mention, the Honda Shine also comes in a front disc brake variant which is priced at Rs 79,343 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Hero Glamour Xtec
Another commuter motorcycle that you could consider instead of the TVS Raider 125 is the Hero Glamour Xtec. It retails at Rs 81,320 (ex-showroom Delhi) onwards and was launched back in 2021. It houses a 124.7cc BS6 engine dishing out 10.72 bhp and 10.6 Nm. Apart from that, the Glamour Xtec gets a bunch of nifty features like LED illumination, Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster, turn-by-turn navigation system, a side-stand engine cut-off function, and a USB charger.
Hero Super Splendor
A proven name in the Indian two-wheeler commuter space, the Hero Splendor is also a potential alternative to the TVS Raider 125. Its asking price is set to Rs 74,700 (ex-showroom Delhi) and you get a 124.7cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 10.72 bhp and a torque of 10.6 Nm. The Splendor’s motor is quite efficient and it can return upto 57kmpl. Not bad for a time when petrol prices are hitting a new high every day, no?
Honda Livo
Another offering from Honda’s stable as a potential alternative to the TVS Raider is the Livo. Unlike the other bikes on the roster, the Honda Livo is powered by a 109.51cc BS6 engine belting out 8.67 bhp and 9.30 Nm. Goes without saying, the Honda Livo’s motor is also quite frugal and offers a mileage of 60kmpl. On the feature front, it’s pretty plane-jane.
TVS Star City Plus
Last but not least, the Raider 125 also has a foe in its own family line in the form of the Star City Plus. Its asking price starts at Rs 70,205 (ex-showroom Delhi) onwards for the base model. TVS has plonked a 109.7cc BS6 motor developing 8.08 bhp and 8.7 Nm. While that may not sound like a lot, the small motor also proves to be quite pocket friendly since it offers a mileage of 68kmpl.
