TVS Motor Company has registered a 46 per cent growth in sales in August, as compared to the corresponding period in 2013. Currently the country’s fourth largest two-wheeler manufacturer, TVS’ growth has been driven mainly by the strong demand for its wide range of scooters, commuter motorcycles as well as three-wheelers.
Overall, the demand for TVS motorcycles grew by 47 per cent, while those of scooters surged by a whopping 84 per cent in the last month, as compared to August 2013. While the domestic market saw two-wheeler sales increase by 50 per cent, the company shipped off 27 per cent more two-wheelers to its other global markets in August. The three-wheeler commercial vehicles division also saw a healthy growth of 39 per cent.
Motivated by the country’s surging demand for scooters, last month, the Hosur-based manufacturer launched the new Scooty Zest priced at Rs 43,200. It also revealed its new strategy of aggressively refreshing and expanding its motorcycle line-up in an attempt to regain the third spot in the Indian two-wheeler market. The company is making up for the lost ground with its new products like the Scooty Zest and has plans to revive the Victor moniker for its new commuter motorcycles.
