Driven by the increasing demand for its scooters, TVS Motor Company recorded a 14.8 per cent jump in overall sales in February 2015. The Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer sold over 2.03 lakh two-wheelers in the previous month, helping it retain the fourth spot in the Indian two-wheeler market.
The domestic two-wheeler market helped TVS increase its sales by 11.4 per cent, as the manufacturer sold 1.64 lakh units in February 2015 as compared 1.47 lakh it had managed in the corresponding month, last year. While the sales of motorcycles increased by 18.3 per cent, the scooter sales recorded a massive growth of over 35 per cent. Exports numbers have also jumped by 34.5 per cent while the commercial three-wheeler division recorded 22.9 per cent growth.
Going by the numbers, TVS Motor Company’s commuter motorcycle range and the increasing demand in other global markets have significantly aided the growth. The company’s last few launches like the Star City Plus and the Scooty Zest have performed well in the market, helping it boost its overall market share. With the demand for scooters in India growing by leaps and bounds, TVS also has a definite advantage in this rapidly growing segment, owing to the wide range of scooters in its portfolio.
