TVS TVS Motor Company has registered a healthy 30 per cent jump two-wheeler sales in September 2016 as compared to the corresponding month in the last year. The company sold just over 2.87 lakh motorcycles and scooters in the last month, helping it hold on to the fourth spot in the Indian two-wheeler market.
TVS has managed to record this significant growth in sales despite facing a disruption in its supply chain, in which the company lost production of 25,000 units. Spearheading TVS’ growth is the company’s commuter motorcycle range, which grew by 36 per cent. Scooter sales also registered a respectable 12.7 per cent growth. Domestic two-wheeler sales grew by 33.6 per cent, though export numbers fell by eight per cent. The company’s commercial vehicle division also saw a 50 per cent drop in demand.
The demand for TVS motorcycles and scooter has been gradually picking up pace since the past few months thanks to the frequent upgrades and introduction of new models. The Star City Plus and the Scooty Zest have turned out to be a huge success, helping it boost its overall market share. The company has also been launching the Victor range regionally which has helped it further strengthen its presence in the commuter motorcycle segment. The Apache range meanwhile, continues to consistently rake in decent numbers with the introduction of the Apache RTR 200 4V.
