TVS Motor Company has witnessed a drop of around 10 per cent in its overall vehicle sales in July 2020. The company sold a total of 2,52,744 vehicles last month which was down from 2,79,465 units in July 2019. On the flip side, it has witnessed a hike of 27 per cent as compared to June 2020 when the sales were severely hit due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Considering domestic two-wheelers sales alone, the Hosur-based manufacturer dispatched 2,43,788 units which slumped from 2,65,679 units in the corresponding month last year. The company sold 1,06,062 motorcycles and 78,603 scooters, both of which witnessed a considerable decline over July 2019. Meanwhile, total exports were also affected as they tumbled from 69,994 units last year to 62,389 units this year.
All the two-wheeler manufacturers have witnessed a serious decline in sales over the past few months, owing to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the nationwide lockdown now easing, sales are gradually regaining momentum. TVS has updated most of its two-wheelers according to the new BS6 emission norms and the recent addition to its portfolio was the Zest 110 BS6.
