TVS Motor Company has announced a 16 per cent hike in overall sales of two-wheelers and three-wheelers in May 2017. The company sold 2,43,783 units last month as compared to 2,82,007 units sold in the same month in 2016.
The overall two-wheeler sales report shows a 15.6 per cent hike in sales. The company sold 2,38,320 units in May last year in comparison to the 2,75,426 units sold in the same month this year. The exports also grew by 14.3 per cent with 40,617 units sold last month as against 35,545 units sold in the corresponding month in 2016.
Scooter sales grew by 30.9 per cent during the same period, while motorcycle sales also showed a growth of 22.3 per cent. Sales of scooters increased to 85,681 units last month from 65,434 units sold in May 2016. Similarly, over 1,18,014 units of motorcycles were delivered to customers last month. This is a significant leap from the 96,485 motorcycles sold in May 2016.
TVS has played their cards well. The Scooty, Jupiter and the Apache series of motorcycles are constantly adding to the sales for the manufacturer. We can expect TVS Motor Company to launch the Akula 310 (Apache RR 310S) and the FI version of the Apache 200 motorcycle this year. In addition, they might also introduce a 125cc version of the Jupiter. With the addition of this scooter to their line-up, they will make their presence felt in the 125cc segment that was untouched by the company yet.
