After posting record numbers during the festive season in October, TVS Motors has reported muted sales in November. Nevertheless, the company has managed to steer clear of any drop in sales while the rest of the two-wheeler industry is witnessing a five per cent de-growth.
The overall two-wheeler sales for TVS rose by 0.6 per cent from 2.17 lakh units in November 2015 to 2.19 lakh units in the last month. The domestic market witnessed a 0.5 per cent increase while exports increased by one per cent. While the Victor, Apache and Scooty have been returning consistent sales numbers, the Jupiter and XL Super have been the main drivers of the company’s growth.
While 2016 has been a good year for the Indian two-wheeler industry, the sudden drop in sales in November are the aftereffects of demonetisation. Nevertheless, manufacturers are sure that this is just a short term impact and the numbers are expected to pick up over the next few weeks.
