TVS Motor Company has registered a growth of 7.7 per cent in the Indian market for June 2018. The company sold 2,46,176 units last month as compared to the 2,28,518 units sold in June 2017.
The company recorded a total sales growth of 12.1 per cent. It sold 3,01,201 units for June 2018 as compared to 2,68,638 units sold in the same month last year. Out of this number, 1,28,825 units were motorcycles, an increase of 14.9 per cent from the 1,12,146 motorcycles sold in June 2017. Scooters registered a growth of 13.6 per cent with 1,02,763 units sold last month as opposed the 90,448 units sold in June 2017.
Exports numbers for June 2018 also reflected a strong growth of 37.2 per cent. TVS sold 55,025 units overseas as against the 40,120 units exported in the same period last year. The manufacturer credits the Jupiter and the Apache series for majority of their sales numbers. However, the XL 100 is the highest selling model from TVS’s line-up, selling upwards of 70,000 units a month.
For 2018, TVS has launched the Apache RTR 160 4V in the Indian market. The bike is positioned above the standard Apache RTR 160. It is also likely to launch the iQube hybrid scooter which is powered by a 110cc petrol engine with an electric motor.
