TVS Sherco continued to maintain its momentum through the third stage of the Dakar 2018. Juan Pedrero Garcia finished the day in the 16th position while Aravind KP grabbed the 29th position. Hero Speedbrain had a mixed day, with Oriol Mena finishing 12th and CS Santosh dropping to 98th.
Those who have been following the Dakar 2018 would be surprised looking at CS Santosh’s standing, for he had been consistently performing well so far. However, the blame goes to his race bike’s fuel cap. An improperly fitted fuel tank cap saw Santosh run out of fuel 30kms before the end of the stage. He then had to stop other riders and borrow fuel, losing an hour and 30 positions in the process. He eventually finished 98th, which has seen him drop to the 56th position in the overall rankings.
Oriol Mena’s performance turned out to be a silver lining for the team, and the 12th position finish has propelled him to the 19th position overall. As for TVS Sherco, both Juan Pedrero Garcia and Aravind KP had a good run, and finished in 16th and 29th position respectively. They now stand in 20th and 29th position in the overall rankings. The fourth stage of the Dakar is currently underway. It is a 444 kilometre stage which involves a sprint through the beach of San Juan de Marcona.
