TVS Motors has become the second largest scooter manufacturer in the country. The company achieved this feat by selling 2.49 lakhs scooters in the last quarter, which is 39,287 units more than what Hero MotoCorp managed in the corresponding period.
While other manufacturers are still recovering from the aftereffects of demonetization and the industry’s move to BS IV norms, TVS has registered a healthy 35 per cent growth in its scooter sales in the April to June period of this year. The Jupiter has played the biggest role in helping TVS achieve this feat, while the recent update for the Scooty Zest also seems to have sparked interest. Hero MotoCorp meanwhile, witnessed a marginal 0.5 per cent drop in scooter sales.
To keep the momentum going, TVS is going to launch colour updates for the Wego and the Jupiter in the near future. Apart from these, the company will also introduce a brand new scooter in this financial year.
