- iQube customers to get portable charger cost refund
- TVS charged separately for these chargers
- Refund is around Rs. 20 crore
TVS has been ordered to refund the iQube customers charged separately for portable chargers.
TVS and EV brands like Ather and Ola charged their customers separately for the portable chargers. This was done so that these companies could bring the ex-showroom price to Rs 1.5 lakh – a price tag with good FAME incentives. The customers who had no option but to purchase these chargers separately will now be refunded the cost of the portable chargers.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has been aggressive with this investigation and ordered all EV companies to refund the amount. While Ola and Ather's refund runs into more than Rs. 100 crore, TVS figure, stands at around Rs. 20 crore.
The Hosur-based company will start contacting its customers for a refund. However, timelines have yet to be provided for this process.
