TVS Motors’ new electric scooter will go on sale by March 2018. This was announced by Venu Srinivasan, chairman, TVS Motor, during the company's annual general meeting. Apart from the electric scooter, the company will also roll out a hybrid vehicle by December this year.
Last week, a few spy shots of a heavily disguised TVS scooter revealed the company’s intentions of entering the electric scooter market space. The spy shot showed the scooter plugged in to a wall charger. While the camouflage doesn’t reveal any details about the scooter, the design language seems to be similar to the Jupiter. The switchgear also had a few unconventional buttons, which could be related to the power modes for the powertrain. We can expect the scooter to be unveiled during the 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi, followed by its launch in the succeeding month.
As for the hybrid vehicle, Srinivasan stopped short of revealing whether it was a scooter or a three-wheeler. Regarding the BMW G310R-based TVS supersport bike, rumoured to be christened Apache RR 310, the motorcycle will go on sale closer to the festive season.
