TVS Motor has announced that they will start marketing their two-wheelers in five countries in the Central American region. They will take the help of their local partner in that region in a bid to expand their overseas network.
TVS Motor has collaborated with MASESA (Mayor Servicios Socieda Anonima), a Guatemala based company which is a leader in the commercialisation of motorcycles and Tuk Tuks in the Central American region. This 17-year old company has a firm foothold in the Central American distribution space. TVS wants to take full advantage of its partner's deep roots in the region by selling TVS motorcycles and scooters through them.
TVS Motor wants to expand its presence in Central América, LATAM, South East Asia and Middle East. So, the company is planning to open 500-600 exclusive outlets there in the next 12 months. They will be spread across Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
The Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer has already been present in this region, but hasn't had very significant volumes. The company foresees a good demand from these five countries and so has made this foray overseas. It has targeted to bring home Rs 500 crore in revenue in the next three years. The line-up of two-wheelers primarily includes motorcycles up to 200cc, which will be redeveloped to suit the market preferences.
We can expect these products to be produced at the company's plants in India and Indonesia and shipped out later. According to the current agreement, TVS will develop and manufacture exclusive motorcycles for the region, while MASESA will handle the marketing and sales, distribution, services and spare parts.
R. Dilip, Senior Vice President, International Business of TVS Motor Company, said, "We are very pleased to partner with a well-known company such as MASESA, which has a rich experience and immense knowledge of the market and the needs of customers in this region. The unique network of distribution that MASESA has developed, makes them the best strategically for TVS Motor Company. With this alliance we will be able to personalise our value offers and provide the right products for our future clients throughout Central America and consolidate our presence in the area.”
TVS has already confirmed the shipping of Scooty Zest 110 and Wego 110 scooters from India. Later, motorcycles including Star HLX 100/125, Sport 100 ES, Phoenix 125, Stryker 125 and Apache 160/180/200 will also be exported from the Indian counterpart. Apart from this, the product offerings also include the TVS King DLX three-wheeler. The Indonesian plant will be responsible for manufacturing the Max 125 and Neo 110 only.
