- Overall sales slumped by 4.6 per cent

TVS’ March sales figures are out and it seems that the Hosur-based manufacturer has had a tough last month. Its year-on-year total sales have declined by 4.6 per cent as the company sold 3,07,954 units in March 2022 compared to 3,22,643 units in March 2021.
As for the domestic sales, TVS registered 1,96,956 units last month against the 2,02,155 units it sold in the corresponding month of last year. On the bright side, motorcycles sales bumped up from 1,57,254 units in March ‘21 to 1,60,522 units last month, that’s a 2.05 per cent hike.
However, the scooter segment went from registering 1,04,513 units in March ‘21 to 94,747 units in March ‘22. That’s a notable 9,8 per cent decrease. Last but not least, the two-wheeler exports fell by 9.24 per cent. TVS claims that the shortage of semiconductors has impacted production but it’s optimistic that the situation will improve.
