- Will make parking in tight spots effortless
- Will be offered in all future TVS electric-scooters
- Creon might be the first e-scooter to get it
TVS is developing a new Parking Assist System for electric scooters. According to our sources, this new technology will be seen in all the upcoming TVS e-scooters.
Electric motors develop maximum torque just from the word go, and that might pose a problem for scooter riders, especially in India where there’s hardly any e-scooter penetration. Plus, it is slightly difficult to manually park in a crowded parking area due to the weight and the overall dimensions of the scooter. TVS plans to solve this issue by equipping its upcoming e-scooters with the new system. This feature, when activated, provides motion assistance in moving the scooter backward and forward, thus helping the riders manoeuvre tight parking spots with ease.
The Park Assist System will check various vehicle parameters like the vehicle speed, throttle position and the brake condition to move the vehicle. For the front motion assist to work, the throttle should be opened and the speed should be less than 6kmph. To activate the reverse assist, the vehicle speed needs to be at 0kmph and throttle and brakes shouldn’t be in use. The system will then check if the rear wheel has moved more than 90 degrees. If it has, the system will assist the rider by automatically reversing the scooter at the speed of around 3-4kmph. When the scooter is downhill, the system will apply brakes if the real speed goes over the assigned speed. When the Park Assist System is in use, the hazard lamps will automatically be switched on and the instrument cluster will display a message- “Parking assist on”.
TVS will feature this new technology in all the upcoming electric-scooters. But the Creon scooter is likely to be the first one that will get the Parking Assist System. We contacted TVS to know more about this technology but they refused to comment on it.
