- TVS could be working on a cheaper iQube
- Likely to get a smaller battery pack
- Could be at least Rs 10,000 cheaper
The TVS iQube is the second highest selling electric-scooter in the country, with the Ola S1 Pro being the first. But it looks like the company wants to steal some of the sales from Ola by launching its most affordable version.
According to a report, TVS is working on a more affordable version of the iQube. This is done as the FAME 2 incentives have decreased drastically in the last few weeks. As a result, the premium e-scooters with bigger batteries don’t make more sense economically.
If this report comes true, we can see an iQube with a smaller battery pack and fewer features. The current range of tubes has a 3.04kWh battery and a TFT display. Including these features has made the iQube priced at around Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom). Interestingly, even with all these features, iQube is one of the most affordable e-scooters in the country.
This upcoming, more affordable TVS iQube could be launched within a few months. TVS could price this variant from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 cheaper than the current model. Also, the iQube ST - a model with a bigger battery pack and more features may not make its way to the market due to the drop in FAME 2 incentives, and that variant would cost a lot more.
