TVS debuted its sporty electric scooter, the X, a few months ago and we recently rode it at the brand’s testing facility in Hosur. Here is what we think of the TVS X from our very first encounter with it.
The TVS X looks attractive with its unique styling and sleek bodywork. Its appearance is enticing and should appeal to the younger buyers. Bits like the mirrors, front apron, and the seat caught our fancy quickly. Then, TVS has also given the X some nice finishing touches like the blue bits on the chain cover, sub-frame, and the brake callipers.
Powering the TVS X is a 2.2kWh battery linked to a 7.5kW motor. It gets a claimed range of 140km and a top speed of 105kmph. During our time with the X, we rode it at full clip for quite a bit and tried to make the most out of its range. However, a proper range test will be needed to verify the aforementioned figures.
The seating ergonomics of the TVS X is more like that of a motorcycle. This means there is enough room to move around and the comfort levels, too, are good. The rider seat is spacious and well-cushioned.
It gets three ride modes – Eco, Xtealth, and Xonic. The X feels quick in Xonic but a little lazy in the other two modes. Further, we found the scooter intuitive to ride since the throttle is progressive and predictable.
The TVS X features full LED illumination and a TFT. The latter is the size of a proper tab and provides a host of information. It can also be tilted up and down for better visibility.
TVS has built the X on a twin-spar frame called the Xleton. It includes the main aluminium frame, subframe, and a low cradle that houses the battery pack. This setup is suspended on USD front forks and an offset monoshock.
The braking hardware includes a front and rear disc with single-channel ABS. These are mounted on 12-inch wheels wrapped in road-oriented tyres.
But what about its other features, storage, braking, and more? And should you spend Rs. 2.49 lakh on it? Read our first ride review of the TVS X to get all your answers.
