Finally we have something from the famous TVS-BMW collaboration. A prototype motorcycle was spied testing in Germany few days ago and MCN has managed to capture the rear side of the test mule.
As per the report, the spied bike is powered by a 300cc engine that has been co-developed by BMW and TVS. While the technical specifications of this bike are not available, BMW’s head of motorcycles, Stephan Schaller, Stephan Schaller has confirmed that the bike will be unveiled within a year from now. This makes us believe that the first BMW-TVS motorcycle might be unveiled either at the 2015 EICMA or the 2015 Intermot show.
“The small capacity bikes are still on target for us in terms of the timetable which means this time next year the bikes will be presented. We will keep the original timing, but maybe we have to put a little bit more resource into this to keep with the schedule. In one year’s time I think we can start talking about the new bikes. The design and engineering are done by BMW in Munich and then TVS is doing much of the work to get these bikes ready for production,” said Stephan Schaller.
From the spy picture, we can clearly figure out that the test mule sports an under-seat exhaust, making us believe that this could either be a sport variant or a street fighter. The rear foot pegs are too high for it to be a street fighter and the riding position is aggressive. All these factors indicate that the bike is a fully-faired sport motorcycle. Just like its bigger 1000cc bikes, BMW might be developing three models (street fighter, sports bike and adventure) based on the same platform. We are expecting things to become more interesting over the next few months, when more spy pictures start coming in.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more details on the upcoming bike from TVS-BMW.
