TVS Motor Company has reported a decline in their two-wheeler sales by 7.1 per cent. The company managed to sell 1,46,671 two-wheelers in July 2013 as compared to 1,57,954 in the corresponding month in 2012.
In the domestic market, the company’s sales went down by 10.17 per cent where they managed to sell 1,26,531 units as against 1,40,862 units in the same month last year. Export for the company increased by 36.58 per cent at 26,145 units in July 2013 as compared to 19,142 units last year.
Motorcycles dominated the company’s July sales figure. It grew by 8.49 per cent to 57,886 units from 53,355 units in the same month last year. On the other hand, scooter sales were down by 9.76 per cent to 36,900 units as against 40,895 units in the same month last year.
In order to increase is footprint in export markets, TVS is planning to setup manufacturing facility in Uganda, besides launching two new motorcycles for the market.
