Yamaha has unveiled two new editions of its famous adventure motorcycle – the Tenere 700. This middleweight ADV has been in great demand in Europe, and to keep the segment exciting, the Japanese brand has unveiled two new editions – Extreme and Explore.
Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition: Styling and Features
The Extreme Edition gets a fully adjustable KYB suspension at both ends. Both sides get 20mm more travel than the standard bike, and this setup has also increased the ground clearance to 260mm. The overall seat height has also increased to 910mm, thanks to 20mm more padding on the seat. The bike gets upgrades like non-slip titanium footpegs, a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster, an aluminium chain guard, radiator guards, and a high-enduro-style front fender.
Yamaha Tenere Explore Edition: Styling and Features
The Tenere 700 Explore Edition focuses more on road riders, so it gets a lowered seat and a suspension setup that gives out lesser suspension travel and, thus, lower seat height. The KYB suspension on this model takes away 20mm of travel from the front and the back. The seat height figure stands at 860mm. This model also gets a larger windscreen for that high-speed run and wind buffeting. Depending on the requirement, there’s an option to choose hard and soft saddle bags. A quickshifter has been added to this model if the rider wants more comfort.
Yamaha Tenere 700: Engine and Performance
The mechanical specifications remain unchanged on this bike. This ADV continues to power from a 689cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 72.4bhp at 9,000rpm and 68Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
Yamaha Tenere 700: India Launch
The Tenere 700 is an apt motorcycle for a market like India, but sadly, the Indian arm of the company has no plans to launch the bike in India due to import restrictions. Currently, the Tenere 700 is only made in France and importing that bike will attract huge import duties, making it impractical to launch it here.
