According to a report from SIAM, two-wheeler sales have increased by 3.55 per cent in June this year. In all, 13,07,710 units were sold last month.
The boost in sales of two-wheelers is courtesy the increase in sales of scooters. The sales of scooters increased by 14.21 per cent last month, resulting in a good hike of two-wheeler sales. Though the motorcycles comprise of 70 per cent of overall sales of two-wheelers, with the sale of 8,77,696 units this year in comparison to 8,77,289 units in the same period last year, they could only manage to add to a marginal rise in sales.
The increase in sales of two-wheelers might not seem to be a great number, but the sales figures are respectable considering the slow economic activity and weak consumer sentiments in the Indian market. Nevertheless, analysts are citing a probable pickup in sales with the onset of the festive season in late August. We can expect the sales numbers to rise by a substantial amount then.
