The month of July was truly a carnival of launches as we saw a new entrant in almost every segment. There were a couple of new big bikes along with an electric scooter that graced the Indian shores. Now, before we welcome some more new two-wheelers in August, here’s a quick recap of all bikes and scooters that were launched in India in July 2022.
The month started with a bang as Suzuki dropped the iconic Katana with an aggressive price tag of Rs 13.61 lakh. That makes it one of the most affordable inline four-cylinder motorcycles on sale here. Sporting minimalist yet sharp bodywork, the Katana is capable of pumping out 149bhp and 106Nm of torque. There are a decent amount of electronics too, like riding modes, a traction control system, low rpm assist, and a ride-by-wire system.
On the same day as the Katana’s launch, Ducati brought an even more mental street bike which goes by the name Streetfighter V4 SP. It’s the top-spec version of the super naked with a lot of carbon-fibre used for its body panels and hardware, top-end Ohlins and Brembos, and a plethora of electronic aids. Above all, it makes a staggering 208bhp and 123Nm from its 1,103cc, V4, Desmosedici Stradale engine.
Keeway K-Light 250V
Following the super naked offerings was the smallest and most affordable motorcycle with a V-twin engine – the Keeway K-Light 250V. The prices of the bike start at Rs 2.89 lakh and go up as per colour option. The motorcycle boasts a quirky factory-custom cruiser styling with blacked-out components and boxy design lines. Powering the bike is a 249cc, air-cooled, V-twin mill that produces 18.7bhp and 19Nm.
Another quirky motorcycle was introduced by TVS in the form of the Ronin. The company is touting it as a do-it-all motorcycle which is evident from its design which is a mix of a scrambler, cruiser, and roadster. It is powered by a new 225.9cc, air/oil-cooled engine that makes 20.1bhp and 19.93Nm. The features and cycle parts are quite premium and the prices start from Rs 1.49 lakh.
BMW Motorrad launched its smallest sportbike, the G310 RR, in India last month. The motorcycle is based on the TVS Apache RR310 in terms of design, hardware, and engine. However, there are certain differences like a unique layout for the TFT screen, Michelin Pilot Street tyres, new colour options, and unavailability of optional adjustable suspension. And of course, the G310 RR is more expensive than the Apache with a starting price of Rs 2.85 lakh.
Hero Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition
For the hardcore off-road enthusiasts, Hero brought the Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition which gets certain changes for a more off-road-focussed demeanour. These alterations include fully-adjustable front and rear suspension with more travel than the stock setup. This has increased the ground clearance and seat height. Moreover, there’s a longer gear shift lever and a lengthened side stand too. The Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition costs Rs 1.52 lakh.
Ather Energy updated its 450X electric scooter with additional features and a bigger battery. Now, powering the e-scooter is a 3.7kWh battery as against a 2.9kWh unit in its predecessor. As a result, it delivers a maximum range of 105km (in Eco mode). Meanwhile, the 450 Plus can do 85km which is 15km more than before. And for a more seamless software experience, Ather has also equipped the e-scooter with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM.
2022 Hero Xtreme 160R
Hero bestowed its sporty commuter, the Xtreme 160R, with mild updates for 2022. For enhancing comfort and convenience, the company has tweaked the design of its seat and incorporated a two-piece grab rail which wasn’t available before. All the other aspects of the bike have remained unchanged. It is available in three variants with prices starting from Rs 1.17 lakh.
