Ultraviolette Automotive recently launched the second iteration of the F77 electric motorcycle in India. Aptly called ‘Mach 2’ given its aviation inspired design, the F77 has received notable upgrades. The bike is available in two variants- Standard and Recon. Here are the top highlights of what is currently India’s fastest electric motorcycle.
Design
The F77 Mach 2 has the same design and body panels as the previous motorcycle. Not that the design needed any tweaking considering the F77 is a good-looking motorcycle. It looks futuristic and sporty and to top that it is very well finished too. Look closely at the bike and you’ll see no bolts and nuts on the outside, giving the bike a clean appearance.
Ultraviolette has introduced as many as nine new colours on the F77 Mach 2 and each of them suit the sharp design of the bike. The colours are called Lighting Blue, Asteroid Grey, Turbo Red, Afterburner Yellow, Stealth Grey, Cosmic Black, Plasma Red, Supersonic Silver, and Stellar White. The Afterburner Yellow and Stellar White colours, particularly, look very good.
There’s also better quality and attention to detail on the F77 Mach 2. The lid for the charging port is now made of aluminium and it feels sturdy instead of the flimsy feeling plastic lid in the previous bike.
Features
Ultraviolette has made significant updates to the features list and it is now quite comprehensive. Starting with Hill Hold, it prevents the bike from rolling forward or backwards while stationary on an incline without pressing the brake.
Next it also gets a four step traction control system. The level of intervention changes on the basis of the mode that’s been selected and is useful, say, while riding on slippery surfaces.
The F77 Mach 2 Recon also gets 10 levels of regen, including completely switched off. Regen helps slow the bike down with barely any input from the brakes. In order to ensure that the rider does not lose control of the bike while slowing the bike down using regenerative braking, there’s a new Dynamic Stability Control or DSC system. The system works with the regen and ABS systems to ensure the wheels don’t lock up and the bike slows down in a controllable and predictable manner.
Powertrain
The standard variant of the F77 Mach 2 has a 27kW permanent magnet AC motor while the Recon gets a 30kW motor that makes around 40bhp and 100Nm. The F77 Mach 2 Recon can sprint from 0-60kmph in 2.8 seconds and 0-100kmph in 7.7seconds. The top speed in the case of both models is 155kmph.
As for the batteries, the standard bike gets the 7.1kWh battery while the Recon variant gets a bigger, 10.3kWh. They have an IDC range of 211km and 323km.
Hardware
The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 has a trellis frame that’s suspended by a USD fork and a monoshock. Both suspension units are preload adjustable.
The bike rides on 17-inch wheels shod with MRF tyres. Braking duties are taken care of by a 320mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear.
Price
The Ultraviolette F77 is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh for the standard bike and Rs 3.99 lakh for the Recon. These prices are introductory and reserved for the first 1,000 customers.
