After making its debut at the 2014 Auto Expo, UM has finally entered the Indian market with the launch of three new bikes – the Renegade Commando, Renegade Sport S and the Renegade Classic.
All the three UM cruisers have been priced between Rs 1.49 lakh and Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), that makes it fall in the Royal Enfield territory. The company will manufacture these bikes at Lohia Auto’s facility in Uttarakhand. In fact, both the companies have entered into an agreement to manufacture and the UM bikes in India. An investment of close to Rs 250 crore has been made, that’ll also help the companies expand their business in future.
The bookings for the three bikes have begun and the company plans to add 50 dealerships within this year. The company is currently in the process of appointing dealerships. Out of all the models, the company is betting big on the Renegade S as it’s the most affordable bike of all and also has the right design language to attract lot of consumers.
