According to an international source, there has been a patent drawing leak of the upcoming 2017 Kawasaki Versys 650. This patent image reveals a lot of new changes that are headed to the very capable Versys.
This patent image revealing the factory designs for the entire bike were hidden away in a registry document for a new bracketing set-up for the 650’s top fairing. So here are some of the new changes according to the source:
The front lower fairing has changed into a one-piece fairing taking advantage of the motorcycle’s new more-narrow top section. The Versys loses its old bulky sump guard to a new redesigned engine-hugging one. Coming to the top fairing, it is significantly smaller and extends to the petrol tank sides with a significantly narrower design. The motorcycle is also set to lose all of its exposed frame bits to a cover. The mirrors are also shorter and wider which will likely improve the rear view visibility.
The new petrol tank is set to be redesigned to appear more progressive up from the seat front and rakes further forward towards the headstock. Both the rider and pillion seats have been sculpted to ensure the motorcycle stays true to its narrow profile. The 2017 Versys 650 will also feature significantly lengthier grab rails which will double as a luggage rack when need be. The rear end of the motorcycle also appears to have received a complete overhaul with a redesigned sub frame and pillion footrest and a flatter looking exhaust system.
