Bajaj Auto has teased the upcoming Pulsar NS200 ahead of its Indian launch, and the promotional video reveals new details about this TVS Apache RTR 200 4V rival. Here we tell you what we know about the motorcycle so far.
What’s new on the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS200?
The teaser video has confirmed that this upcoming motorcycle will get a hardware update. The new model will pack upside-down front forks instead of the conventional telescopic units on the previous version. Do note that the company already offers these forks on the Brazilian-spec motorcycle where it is christened the Dominar 200. Meanwhile, the suspension setup at the rear will continue to feature a preload-adjustable mono-shock.
Apart from the suspension setup, Bajaj Auto will also upgrade the safety net on the new model, and the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 will benefit from a dual-channel ABS. For reference, the outgoing version features the safety net of a single-channel ABS. Meanwhile, the braking setup will retain single discs on both wheels.
Will the mechanical specifications on the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 change?
The mechanical specifications are unlikely to change, and thus the upcoming Pulsar NS200 should retain the BS6-compliant 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the outgoing model. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 24.13bhp at 9,750rpm and 18.74Nm of peak torque at 8,000rpm. While the numbers may remain unaltered on the 2023 model, the motorcycle will receive hardware updates to comply with the OBD2-A emission norms. The On-board Diagnostics System detects system failures and indicates faults on the dashboard.
How will the styling of the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 differ from the previous version?
The teaser video reveals very little about the styling of the motorcycle. However, the design will not be very different from the previous version, as the 2023 model will retain a sharp styling for the headlight with a body-coloured cowl, an engine cowl, a muscular fuel tank, split-style seats, two-piece pillion grabrail, and an underbelly exhaust setup. While the design may not be very different from the outgoing version, the paint themes and graphics could get a revision to distinguish this motorcycle from its predecessor.
Will the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 get new features?
The Brazilian-spec model uses a halogen headlight assembly and a semi-digital instrument cluster, and we expect the India-spec motorcycle to feature similar hardware. Do note that rivals such as the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Hero Xpulse 200T 4V get features such as an LED headlight and a Bluetooth-enabled fully-digital instrument cluster.
Will all the updates affect the ex-showroom price of the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS200?
The revisions to the hardware are likely to affect the motorcycle's ex-showroom price and the 2023 Pulsar NS200 may get a price hike over the outgoing version. The existing model, for reference, is available at Rs. 1.40 lakh. The updated model may carry a price premium of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000 over the outgoing version.
Prices mentioned above are ex-showroom, Delhi
