The upcoming 500cc V-Twin cruiser from Harley Davidson has been spied testing again on the Gurgaon-Faridabad road in Haryana. But this time the images are clearer this time.
Both the test mules were sans camouflage and were seeing carrying Haryana temporary registration plates where the company’s completely-knocked-down (CKD) facility is present. In the previous spy images, the test mules was seen sporting saree guard but this time, the test mules were seen sporting leather saddlebags. The exhaust looks very basic and also if you look closely at the rear wheel of the first and second images, it clearly shows the upcoming 500cc Harley is belt driven like the other offerings from the Iconic American bike major.
A few weeks back the same motorcycles were spied near Faridabad. Just two days ago, the American manufacturers’ chief operating officer Matthew Levatich confirmed that they are indeed developing a 500cc cruiser for developing markets like India. This 500cc motorcycle will be marketed as a learner’s motorcycle and is likely to be completely manufactured in India and exported to different markets.
The upcoming 500cc Harley is rumoured to generate around 45bhp of power and 50Nm of torque and is being developed under a new platform called G platform. This platform will become the base design platform for the company’s future low cost model.
We expect that this Harley will make its debut at the 2014 Auto Expo. Pricing will be a key factor but if it’s completely manufactured in India and exported abroad, we can expect a very competitive pricing.
